I am a foreman in a roofing co. in most respects my job is ok, however recently i’ve been put on a job where i have to remove the old roof/debris etc. and I have discovered what appears to be asbestos. (due to how old this building is, not to mention I’ve seen it before and know what it looks like). it is part of my job to remove this stuff. we shovel it into a wheelbarrow and dump it, stirring up all kinds of dust into the air. When i brought it to my boss’s attention, he said that he had saw it too but does’nt think it’s asbestos, and dismissed me with a laugh like he thought i was naive or something. I think he just wants to get the job done and get paid without too many complications and hoping none of the guys on the roof know any better. I have the distinct feeling that if I were to say anything about this it would be frowned on by my employer. I can’t afford to lose my job yet I don’t want to mess with asbestos. what can i do? My employer has made it clear they are’nt going to do anything about it.
What products did Armstrong manufacture from 1943 to 1970 that contain asbestos ?
Looking for types of insulation, furnace linings, brick mortar, etc.
What to do about possible asbestos in the attic?
the home inspector said the insulation is vermiculite, which may (or may not) have asbestos in it. He said it would be fine to just seal off the attic. Is that ok? Removal would cost about $10,000 but I don’t want to jeopardize our future health.
Do you have the same sympathy towards two 65 yr olds with lung cancer?
Person A – worked as a carpenter 50hrs a week for 45 years to support his family, sometime coming into contact with carcinogenic materials (ex. asbestos)
Person B – a person who worked an office job but smoked 3 packs of cigarettes a day for 45 yrs
Do you have any different feelings about them in general?
Creep
I saw this film in 1995 and it was Great! I can’t wait for the DVD with all the extras! The Director Tim Ritter is KING! This movie is a classic. This movie is terrible! I couldn’t watching the hole thing and had to shut it off. First, the filming and angles were atrocious. It was like taking my old VHS camera and just start filming. Second, the acting was so bad it made Sofia Coppola look like an Oscar winner. Last, there was no plot. The script must have been written on the spot. If you want a good Sub Rosa film, go buy Undertow or Backwoods!
.Director Tim Ritter’s shot on video magnum opus, “Creep,” carries the dreaded Sub Rosa Studios designation. Anyone remotely familiar with Sub Rosa knows that this company distributes the most appa… Read More >>

Asbestos siding in my home & want to add stucco do I need to remove siding?
Like I said my home I believe has asbestos siding and it is in bad condition already so I want to have the house re-done with stucco. Now I am not sure if I can just add the stucco on top of the siding or do I need to remove the siding. Please no information on asbestos as I am aware of the dangers I just want to know if I should remove them or not. Thanks.
Our Company knowingly and willingly exposed its employees to asbestos? Is this ground for a lawsuit?
I currently work for a construction company. My job is to unload a truck full of waste materials from the work of the prior day. I do this every morning. I just learned that the waste materials I have been throwing away and handling every day for 6 months are asbestos pipes. I then found out that not only the company knows about this but the city the project is being done for know about it as well. When I asked a question about it a supervisor said “it wont kill you”! Other employees have also come into contact with large amounts of it as well. Is this ground for a lawsuit? and if so how much compensation would you estimate it to be worth? Please only serious answers Thank you!
Question on Asbestos (short exposure?)?
Hi
This might sound like a silly question but anyway – I was at a place in school where I shouldn’t of been (bad, I know!) – it’s a small room filled with pipes and so on. I noticed that there boxes marked “CONTAINS ABESTOS” – overall, I spent about 30 minutes in the room about 5 times (so…6 hours over time). I don’t know if the asbestos was exposed and I did not touch or open the boxes. The only time I was near the boxes was when I noticed the warning sign.
At such a short exposure is it possible that I could have asbestos cancer in later life? I know it is of course possible but I’m sort of interested in a “very unlikely but still possible” reply (or if that isn’t the case…what you think!)
Thanks
Can I use duct tape to cover asbestos tape until I can afford to have it removed professionally?
The asbestos is currently attached to an old fashioned “octopuss” (gravity based heating system). In particular, the arms or “runs” that stem from the main unit are covered (or insulated) in asbestos. I was wondering…would it be safe to cover the asbestos tape with duct tape just to prevent particles from becoming airborne in the basement? Will the duct tape melt or otherwise become toxic by doing this? I’m trying to find a middle of the way solution until I can afford the $6,000 cost of having it removed by a professional asbestos removal service. Thank you very much for your input! It is very appreciated:)
